I installed the wiring harness per the directions.  I hooked up the positive end to my truck's battery first.   Then I ran the rest of the wiring along the frame to the tailgate area.   I made sure I had enough length to operate the system before securing the wiring to the frame with zip ties.  I have a 2016 Ford F-150 Super Crew Cab short bed and I had just enough wire to get plugged in to the Powerwinch on my boat trailer.   Your set up may vary with location of your winch and length of your tow vehicle.  It sure beats hand cranking!  I am very happy with the operation of the winch and the price from Tesstools.com
